Take A Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert
The highly-anticipated sequel to Get A Life, Chloe Brown focuses on the middle Brown sister facing her fears of love and relationships.
Summary:
Danika Brown does NOT do relationships. She enjoys sex. Good, casual, non-commital sex, and that’s all. And she is on the hunt for her next casual sex buddy, looking for a sign from the universe, when her work friend Zafir asks her to be his fake girlfriend for social media publicity purposes. She obliges. But then they realize that they both have very real attraction and affection for one another, and Dani realizes that she has to make a choice – face her fear of relationships head-on, or lose Zafir.
Review:
Talia Hibbert has done it again! The second book in this series was just as heartwarming, sexy, fun and enjoyable as the first. This author REALLY knows how to write crush-worthy characters. I didn’t think I could swoon over another fictional man as much as Red from Chloe Brown, and then Zafir happened. Both Zaf and Dani are completely lovable, perfectly imperfect. I also love the sensitivity Hibbert clearly took when writing about grief and anxiety, and as someone who has dealt with anxiety my whole life, I can say that she totally nailed it. I loved the focus on breaking down toxic masculinity, encouraging young men and especially male athletes to feel comfortable expressing emotion and addressing mental health. SO IMPORTANT.
Reasons for taking off half a star: it all wrapped up a little too neatly, a little too quickly for my liking. Dani’s change of heart around relationships felt very sudden – some more struggle might have made things feel more realistic to me. Overall, this is a fantastic read! I highly recommend for fans of Emily Henry, Alexis Daria, and Jennifer Weiner.
