Lock Every Door by Riley Sager
Star rating: 4.5/5
Riley Sager's third novel tells the tale of a mysterious apartment building. It is rumored to be haunted... the truth is far more terrifying.
Summary:
Jules is desperate for cash and a place to live after walking out on her unfaithful partner. She responds to an ad in the paper for an apartment sitter and is baffled to be offered the opportunity to stay in one of New York City's most beautiful and prestigious apartment buildings for an enormous sum of money. There are a few weird rules, but they all seem worth it. That is, until Jules realize that the other apartment sitters that have stayed there have all gone missing. Is the Bartholomew really haunted? Or worse?
Review:
Why has everyone hated on this book so much?! I enjoyed this book far more than Sager's newest thriller. While I admit the first half of the book was a bit slow and meandering, it had me hooked early on and once it picks up speed, it never stops. I definitely never saw the twist coming. With the thriller market being so saturated I find it difficult to find a story that is truly unique, and this one was. Gripping and creepy, Lock Every Door is sure to have you on the edge of your seat.
